This video will give you a guide to learning the split S turn.

Once in the air, from horizontal flight you do a half roll (half of an aileron roll) then immediately take the power right down and gently pull up on the elevator entering a half loop, when you are half way through the loop (horizontal and upright) put the power back on and fly straight.
